Recent Article from Spring 2006: Go Hang A Salami, I'm a Lasagna Hog This headline is the name of an illustrated book by Jon Agee. It is also a palindrome - a word or phrase that reads the same way both backward and forward. Simple words like mom, eve and racecar are palindromes, as is "Sit on a Potato Pan, Otis", the title of another book by Jon Agee. Palindromes are one of a thousand ways to have fun with language. We recently witnessed a ten year old girl (not dyslexic) reading the palindromes, looking at Jon Agee’s pictures and getting a big kick out of it. So we thought we might use Food For Thought to share some fun word games from time to time. If you are interested in palindromes, here are three other illustrated books you could check out: Ana, Nab a Banana, by Craig Hansen, Too Hot to Hoot by Marvin Terban and Giulio Maestro, and Mad Amadeus Sued A Madam by Allan Miller and Lee Lorenz. On the web you can also go to Palindromelist.com and fun-with-words.com. The fun-with-words site has many other interesting features besides palindromes. If you have any favorite source of word play, feel free to let us know, and we will pass on the information to our other readers.
